The Open Curtain Series, Book One

“Am I still that floral print girl? Or am I becoming more nuanced?”

Jennifer

Mark leaves the blinds open one morning while his wife is out of the house. Across the yard, the neighbor’s curtains close a moment too late to be a coincidence.

The next afternoon Erin says just enough over the fence to confirm it and nothing he could ever repeat. I’ll be seeing you. Or you’ll be seeing me. That night Jennifer finds the slats open and the lamp still on, works out exactly whose window faces theirs, and decides to leave it that way. She has no idea Mark already knows. He has no idea how to tell her.

Erin is moving out in a week, which means this has a deadline, and it means Jennifer might hear it from her first. She does meet her, on a driveway, in daylight.

You’re pretty. I guess I’ve only ever seen your face.

Book One of three. It ends on a turn rather than a resolution, and the story continues in Shadows.

Explicit throughout, with a married couple at the center of it. Full content notes.
